which is located at 7108 Pembroke Rd, Miramar, FL33023. This restaurant is nestled inside a little shopping plaza, but it packs alot of flavor. The interior is clean and modern, with white tables and chairs to dine on after ordering at the window. La Gourmandize Island Restaurant&Haitian Table Before I get into the food, like to clarify that while my background is Black American, I adore Haitian cuisine, people, and culture. Haitian cuisine includes a patchwork of influences from Africa, France, the Middle East, and the indigenous Taino culture.

Haitian diaspora continuing contribution to the local food scene, serving what I consider this to be some of the BEST LEGUME I ve had in a long time since my visit to the beautiful island of Haiti, where I ate from one end to the other in 2016.
Population Growth
Despite its short existence, Miramar has risen swiftly to become one of Greater Miami largest cities. The city ideal position allows for easy access to downtowns in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami counties, as well as Port Everglades, Port Miami,
the Port of Palm Beach, as well as and international airports in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Miramar has plenty of potential to expand and has already exceeded population projections for 2030, published in 2000. Broward County population is expected to grow to 2.05 million by 2030 from 1.82 million in 2019.
Miramar was created in 1953 as a Miami bedroom community by A.L. Mailman, who purchased the property from H.D. Perry, Sr. Initially, 56 low-priced homes were built and quickly sold due to the low cost of land and housing in the area. Miramar was founded in 1955 and named after the neighborhood of Havana, where Mailman had a holiday residence. Miramar is Spanish for look at the sea.
Initially, the area’s only significant highways were US 441, a two-lane highway, and Hallandale Beach Boulevard. However, In the early 1970s, the city developed a land use plan to guide Miramar future development. Consequently, Miramar is now one of Florida largest cities in terms of land area, with two- thirds of it remaining undeveloped.
History
A.L. Mailman built Miramar as a bedroom community for adjacent Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Mailman purchased the original site he planned to develop from H.D. Perry Sr. in 1953. He erected 56 affordable concrete cottages with flat roofs on the property. These properties sold rapidly due to their low cost, and Miramar was born.
The city was founded on May 26, 1955, and was named after the Miramar neighborhood of Havana, Cuba, where Mailman spent his summers (Miramar means look at the sea in Spanish). At the time of incorporation, the city& population was less than 200 people. Miramars initial city boundaries were Southwest 64 Avenue to the east, University Drive to the west, the
Dade County line to the south, and Pembroke Road to the north, covering an area of about 2.9 square miles. On June 20, 1955, the city first mayor (Robert Gordon) and city council were sworn in. They were all chosen by the governor and served until January 1959, when the first municipal election was held. Mayor Robert Gordon is said to have given the city its name.
The city seal bears the words Beauty and Progress H.D. Perry involvement in Miramar did not end with selling the site to Mailman for development. He is recognized as a pioneer in Miramar history. His character and civic actions touched not just the lives of early citizens but Also, continue to this day, as proven by the city schools and parks bearing his family name.
Many long-time residents remember Mr. and Mrs. Perry community barbecues from those early years. Others thank Mr. Perry for the animal husbandry courses he provided for Miramar youth, allowing them to learn about farm life.
When Miramar was established, the only main roadways were U.S. 441 (which was a two-lane road at the time), Hallandale Beach Boulevard to Southwest 66 Terrace and Pembroke Road (a dirt road leading to University Drive). There were no alternative transport lines connecting the new neighborhood.
Miramars early city fathers promoted the notion of planned and regulated growth. The city created a Comprehensive Land Use Plan in 1972, when cities and counties were required to do so. This laid the groundwork for the orderly development of future growth. Two-thirds of the land within the city limits remains underdeveloped.
